WIA Program

Workforce Investment Act (WIA) is a federal program to consolidate, coordinate, and improve employment, training, literacy, and vocational rehabilitation programs in the United States, and for other purposes (Public Law 105-220-Aug 7, 1998). Under the WIA program, federal government funding is used to train a displaced worker with the goal of returning him/her to working status.


Who Qualifies?

Workers who have been let go from their current positions and qualifiy by their respective states for re-training.

Currently Available States

TriStar has WIA agreements in Michigan, New York, and Illinois. WIA agreements with other states can be obtained if necessary.

How Does the WIA Program Work?

Eligible students are approved through each state and given a dollar amount that can be used towards a re-training program.

Funding is provided by the state, but in some cases, the state may require the student to pay a portion.
