Almost every company is planning to make its documentation available electronically via the Internet or on CD-ROM. Users want to go straight to the information they are interested in rather than having to wade through a 1,000-page manual. For both aspects graphic navigation plays an important role. As a result, even more high quality illustrations will be needed, and these illustrations must offer "intelligent" features such as interactivity.

When a person is interested in a component displayed in an illustration, a simple click will take him or her to the page where this component is presented in detail. If you are intending to create intelligent illustrations for interactive catalogs or manuals, IsoDraw is the ideal solution.

Hotspots
So-called hotspots are used for graphic navigation. Clicking the hotspot triggers a predetermined action, e.g. a jump to a different view or a parts list in a spare parts catalog. All hotspots generated with IsoDraw are object oriented, i.e. the hotspot is attached directly to the illustration or the particular part of the illustration. Unlike in overlay technology, this offers the advantage that moving parts within illustrations does not entail further editing. Now, for the first time, creation of interactive documents or catalogs can be done without a great deal of administrative effort resulting in improved quality assurance for your interactive documents.

Creating hotspots
The function "create hotspots" in IsoDraw allows the automatic assignment of hotspots to all texts in one illustration. These illustrations are now ready for use in interactive documents or electronic catalogs and can be displayed using IsoView from ITEDO.

Attributes
With IsoDraw attributes for graphic objects can be defined, so that information such as spare part numbers or multi-language descriptions can be stored directly with the object itself. Given appropriate links, spare parts data, stock levels or production schedules can be inserted into the illustration directly from a database such as SAP R/3 and others.
